Modern OEM clear is thin. You don't get a second attempt. Traditional aluminium oxide papers remove more material than necessary and leave deep grooves that take heavy compounding to chase out — which costs you clear coat twice. Silicon carbide cuts differently: precise defect removal without the deep scoring, so the sanded area refines back to a flawless finish with far less correction behind it. P2000 sits in the middle of the range, refining the marks left by a P1500 pass and handling further levelling before you move to P3000 or straight into compound. Anti-clog technology keeps the abrasive from loading up, and the bonded interface padding lets the disc follow the peaks and valleys of OEM texture instead of flattening high spots.

Wet sanding removes clear coat permanently and cannot be undone. Always take paint depth measurements before starting, test on an inconspicuous area, and avoid edges, body lines and panel high points where clear is thinnest. If you are not confident assessing paint thickness, this is work for an experienced detailer.
