Cut That Doesn't Fade. Start to Finish.

Rupes X8.5 is a heavy cutting compound built on a non-diminishing aluminium oxide abrasive, supplied in a 1kg tub for high-volume correction work.

Diminishing abrasives trade cut for finish. This one doesn't trade. A diminishing compound breaks down as you work it, starting aggressive and refining as the particles fracture — convenient, but it means cut drops off through the pass and you're working against a moving target on hard clear. X8.5 uses aluminium oxide that holds its structure instead, so the hundredth second of a pass cuts as hard as the first. On oxidised paint, deep scratches and heavy sanding marks, that consistency is what gets the defect out in one controlled pass rather than three hopeful ones. The honest trade is that it finishes like a cutting compound should — you refine behind it with a polish, not with the same bottle. For a bodyshop or a busy bay working through genuinely damaged paint, that's the right order of operations anyway.

This is a first-stage cutting compound and is not intended to finish on its own — plan a refining stage into every job. Cut varies significantly with machine, speed, pressure, pad and paint hardness, so test on a small area before committing to a panel. Compounding removes clear coat permanently: assess paint thickness first, stay off edges and body lines, and work in the shade on cool panels.
