Most shampoos just clean your car. This one leaves something behind.
I'll be honest, I went in skeptical. A shampoo that seals your car sounded like one of those too-good-to-be-true bottles. Then I rinsed the first panel.
The water didn't just run off. It balled up into tight little beads, the kind you normally only see right after putting down a proper sealant. From a wash. That's when this stopped being a routine product test and turned into a fun one.
What makes Hydro2 Foam different
There's no shortage of spray-on and foam-on protection out there. Gyeon Wet Coat and Koch Chemie Protector Wax are two we reach for all the time. But they're a separate step: you wash the car with your regular shampoo first, then add the protection on top.
Hydro2 Foam does both jobs in the same bottle. It's a proper pH-neutral shampoo that cleans the car, and when you rinse, it leaves a silica-based sealant on the surface. CarPro says the pressure of the rinse water actually helps the protection bond, so the rinse is part of the application, not just the cleanup.
It isn't only for paint either. Glass, plastic trim, wheels and calipers all get the same treatment in the same wash.
How we used it
Our test car had bare paint. No coating, no sealant, just the usual layer of city dust you pick up after a few days of normal driving. Here's exactly what we did:
- Rinsed the car to knock off the loose dust.
- Foamed the whole car with 40 ml of Hydro2 Foam mixed into 500 ml of water in the foam cannon.
- Added 10 ml straight onto a wet wash mitt and washed panel by panel.
- Rinsed thoroughly and dried.
That's 50 ml in total for a mid-sized car. We used deionized water, but clean tap water works great too. Just dry the car properly afterwards so minerals don't sit on the paint.
CarPro's official foam cannon ratio is 1:9, which is 50 ml of product with 450 ml of water. Our cannon mix was a little leaner, with the extra 10 ml on the mitt making up the difference. Both routes work. If you want to play it safe, start with CarPro's ratio and adjust to your cannon from there.
Cost per wash
A 500 ml bottle is Rs.5,000 at Automize as of 29 September 2026. That works out to Rs.10 per ml, and here's what that means per wash:

What we noticed
The glide
This was the first surprise. The mitt slid across the paint with almost zero drag. Honestly, it's probably the smoothest wash I've ever done. More slickness means less friction, and less friction means fewer wash marks building up over time.
The beading
The second surprise came on the final rinse. Water balled up into tight, aggressive beads that looked like a fresh sealant job. From a shampoo, I really wasn't expecting that.
The dust
Over the next few days the car seemed to hold on to less dust than usual. That's our observation rather than a lab result, but it lines up with how a slick, sealed surface usually behaves.
CarPro claims up to three months depending on conditions. We're two weeks in and the beading is still strong. We'll keep updating this section as the weeks go by.
When it's the right pick, and when it isn't
Hydro2 Foam is gentle by design. That's exactly what makes it great for regular washes, and exactly why it isn't built for a car that's been through the wringer.
Great for
- Daily drivers with light dust from city driving
- Weekly or fortnightly washes where you want protection topped up every time
- Ceramic-coated and PPF-wrapped cars
Not on its own for
- Mud, heavy road film or weeks of built-up grime
- Any wash where the dirt needs a stronger clean first
For those dirtier washes, give the car a little alkaline kick first. Pre-wash with Koch Chemie Active Foam or Gyeon Foam, rinse, and then go in with Hydro2 Foam to clean up and seal.
On ceramic coatings and PPF
This is where Hydro2 Foam really shines. Coatings and PPF slowly lose their water behaviour as grime and wash chemicals build up on them. Because Hydro2 Foam is pH-neutral, it cleans gently and adds a fresh layer of protection on top every single wash.
If your coated car is already fairly clean, CarPro says you can skip the mitt completely. Foam, rinse, dry. That's a quick top-up without even touching the paint.

So which one? If you want a single bottle that handles the whole wash, go Hydro2 Foam. If you already have a shampoo you love, Wet Coat gives you very similar beading as an add-on. And if you like water sheeting off and want help with drying, Protector Wax is your pick.
Mistakes to avoid
- Washing in the sun or on hot panels. If the product dries on the paint it can leave high spots, which show up as smears or a rainbow sheen. Wash in the shade and let the car cool down first.
- Letting the foam dry. On warm days, work panel by panel and keep everything wet.
- A lazy rinse. The rinse is what sets the protection, so give every panel a proper one.
- Using it alone on a filthy car. Pre-wash first, then let Hydro2 Foam finish the job.
- Letting tap water air dry. Dry the car properly so you don't end up with water spots.

Yes, as long as it's clean. We used deionized water, but tap water works fine if you dry the car properly afterwards.
